Faculty of Economics, University of Padjadjaran was established based on Government Regulation No. 37 dated 18 September 1957 regarding the establishment of the University of Padjadjaran. This regulation comes into force on 11 September 1957. The Faculty of Economics, University of Padjadjaran derived from the Free University under the auspices of Bandung Merdeka University Foundation was established in 1952, which in its development into the University of Padjadjaran in 1957. With its chairman Prof. Mr. And Mr. R. Iwa Kusumasumantri Achmad Sanusi as secretary. Faculty of Economics has two departments, namely General Economics and Economics with the number of students 486 people, consisting of 400 new students and 86 students from the University of the Free. The teaching staff of 40 people who are outstanding faculty, because at the beginning of its establishment the University of Padjadjaran yet have permanent faculty staff.

At the beginning of the establishment of the Faculty of Economics has two departments, namely the Department of Public Economics and the Economics Department of the Company. With the implementation of inter-State University conference in Singapore on 6 – January 10, 1958 a direct impact on FE Unpad, by setting the period of study up to complete the doctoral exam is over 5 years. With this education system studies in the faculty of Economics, Padjadjaran University is divided into five levels each – each reached within one year, five levels are:

• Preparation Level
• Level I Baccalaureate (Candidate I)
• The degree of Bachelor II (Candidate II)
• Level Bakaloriat (Doctoral I)
• Level Degree (Doctoral II)

Based on the Decree of the Senate Professor of the University of Padjadjaran No. 3 / Kep / Universitas Padjadjaran / 68, dated January 18, 1968, the Faculty of Economics of the transferee Department of Business Administration and Accounting from the Faculty of Social and Political University of Padjadjaran, so since the academic year 1968 to 1979, The Faculty of Economics has three departments, namely the Department of General Economics, Department Economics and Accounting. Matriculation class system eliminated starting in 1975, in 1976 FE Padjadjaran University has implemented the semester system at all levels, up to the level of Bachelor II. Starting the second half of 1979, has begun to run parallel class.

In order to help the government’s high level of education of skilled workers, Faculty of Economics, University of Padjadjaran forming Diploma program 3. Program 3 Diploma is one unit in the Faculty of Economics, University of Padjadjaran that the task of generating human resources with expertise and skills in the application of science and practical technology, which was founded in 1975 and confirmed by the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 042 / U / 1975 dated March 18, 1975.

In an effort to put the Faculty of Economics, Padjadjaran University as an institution in the field of management science and business at national and international level that are relevant to the efforts of the University of Padjadjaran in towards World Class University, then on August 26, 2011 by the Decree of the Rector of the University of Padjadjaran No. 4196 / UN6.RKT / HK / 2011 has been assigned a name change became the Faculty of Economics, Padjadjaran University Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Padjadjaran.
